The Carolina Wren is back to entertain us. As you will see, he will not share in our amusement. He is molting (shedding) his feathers and the result is one serious itch. I’ve personally never thought about this before, but it makes sense now. When the feet you use for balance are also the hands you use to scratch an itch — life is challenging!

Carolina Wren: Mealworms are MINE MINE MINE
by MoJo
I love watching the Carolina Wrens. They have a special spunk about them -- personality+. Each morning and evening I put live mealworms out for the birds. There are many takers, but one of the species that stands out is the Wren.
The Carolina Wren views mealworms as MINE MINE MINE. You see this behavior in the photo (right) but in the video you'll see MINE MINE MINE taken to the extreme.
The actual recorded event lasted a full 5 minutes, but the video here has been cropped down to 40 seconds. You're welcome. 🙂
