“Command Center”
Ask anyone who has ever visited my house … the Feathers And Fuzz network is what you get on the family room television. Live thumbnails of each camera’s video are streamed together in a grid. At the time of this picture (7/15/2017; 9:52am) … the dark impression in the bird house shown in the upper left corner was left by a Flying Squirrel who spends the night on-and-off during the summer. 15-day-old bluebird nestlings are begging mom for food (top row, 3rd from left) … most of the other nest boxes/platforms have hosted multiple successful broods in 2017, but will likely remain vacant until winter when woodpeckers often spend the night and flying squirrels have historically make nests for their broods.
Cameras
All 30 cameras (give-or-take on a given week) operate 24/7, have infrared (night vision) and are connected back to video recorders in my basement via one wire each.
I use standard, outdoor security cameras outside each bird house, as well as pointing at the bird feeders and bird bath.
I use a very small (roughly 1 1/2″ square) camera inside the bird houses. These cameras were designed for this purpose.
Note: Most images taken from the cameras inside bird houses will be black and white as it’s relatively dark inside the houses and pushes the cameras into infrared mode (which doesn’t display color).
